Thomas Johnson
I explore a medium and discover it for myself in different ways, to depict an idea physically and visually to the best of my ability and imagination. I try not to fix in my mind a style that I would like to prolong indefinitely, or outline any rigid way of working, as I feel this is not entirely constructive to the motion and development of my work. Therefore I may be working on two very different pieces at the same time.
My interests in cultural world history, anthropology, works of fiction and the history of music and its forms all influence the way I set about making these pieces of work. There are threads running through, some drawing strongly from mythology and storytelling, others from my own experience and memory, and from collected images and writings.
