Sarah Davenport

Sarah Davenport is fascinated by the potent afterlife of objects. She makes pictures of scratched, worn, ordinary stuff; marked by memory and hope.

Her art essentially explores the meaning of belongings; that is, not just our material possessions, but how objects can show that we are all attached to places and people, to memories, and to our cultural traditions.

For her show, "Belongings", Sarah has made an exquisite series of work featuring buildings, machines, furniture and domestic objects set on rich textile-patterned backgrounds.
