Nadine Feinson

A system can hold itself in a state where there is constant change and areas of collapse as long as there is equity between the amount being added and the amount being lost. This is described as being in a state of critical equilibrium. As an element is added it will move through the body of the system forming interesting configurations with other elements; a pulse between form, extinction and new form.

The paintings investigate the state of critical equilibrium through the language of abstraction and representation. This is a process of negotiation. The aesthetics of photography are fused with the sensuousness of paint; creating ambiguities between surface and imagery.
